Mr. Vance’s Advisory

Key Club
If you missed the Key Club meeting this morning, there will be one at 3:30 today in Ms. Peetz’s room B05. Please remember that meetings are mandatory.
Mock Trial
There will be an informational/introductory meeting for Mock Trial today from 3:30 to 4:15 in the Career Ed center.
Outdoor Ed Counselors Needed for Rumsey Station
We will be doing Rumsey Station’s session this year. Rumsey’s session is September 7 th and 8 th (next Tuesday and Wednesday). If you have not turned in your application yet, please do so as soon as possible. The pre-site meeting will be tomorrow. You must see Mrs. Morrow in Career Ed today to be considered.
Room open 5 th hour
Room A02 is now open for ISS Lunch Detentions/Academic Study Times during 5 th hour.
Girls Soccer
Attention sophomore-senior girls: If you would like to play indoor soccer beginning in October, please attend the short meeting today after school in coach Ingwerson’s room, F12. If you cannot attend the meeting, but would like to play, please stop by sometime today.
Homecoming T-shirts
The Sapphire Dance Team will be pre-selling Homecoming t-shirts September 2 nd-9 th. They will be delivered Homecoming week. See any dance team member to place your prepaid order.
Student Pictures and ID’s
Student pictures and ID cards will be available today in Titan Town. If you had your picture taken on the August 5 th or 6 th registration days, your pictures and student ID are available. If your picture was not taken until August 17 th, your items have not yet arrived.
FBLA Raffle
Congratulations to Sam Kim, Lance Hansen and Kendra Ashburn for winning the FBLA Raffle at Open House! Winners need to see Mrs. Luebbe in room B15 to choose from one of three $20 gift cards from Taco Bell, Subway or Old Chicago. Attention all current and new future business leaders! The first FBLA meeting of the year will be Friday, September 3 rd at 7:15 a.m. in room B15. All new and returning members are welcome.
Step Squad
There will be a parent meeting for existing step members and those wanting to try out on Tuesday, September 7 th at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Students interested in trying out are asked to see Ms. Denney at lunch or after school.
FORENSICS
Do you like to speak your mind? Do you enjoy talking or acting? Then FORENSICS is for you! Forensics is an extra-curricular activity in which students prepare public speaking and/or theatrical performance pieces for competition. Participation in forensics can improve public speaking skills and can help students to get college scholarships and grants. If you are interested in learning more about joining forensics, please attend an informational meeting at EITHER 7:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. on September 8 in Room B06. Please see Ms. Hicks with questions.
PL-South Bowling Club
There will be an informational meeting for the Bowling Club on Wednesday, September 8 th at 7:00 p.m. in Career Ed. Boys and girls can compete at both the JV and Varsity levels. Competitions are all on weekends. Compete from mid-October until late February throughout the Metro and surrounding area against other high schools. All practices are held at Mockingbird Lanes at 96 th and L Street. All interested bowlers should attend. No experience is necessary.
SPAIN/ITALY TRIP
Ms. Hicks and Ms. Peetz are leading a trip to Spain and Italy in June of 2011. If you will have taken and passed one year of Spanish at South by May of 2011, you may be eligible to go. If interested, please attend an informational meeting on September 9 at 6:00 p.m. in Room B06. Current trip participants do NOT need to attend. This is for new interest only. Please see Ms. Hicks with questions.
Titan Trapshooting Team Members and Future Members:
Fall Practice will begin September 12 th. Practices and training will be available for veterans and beginners. Location is at Papillion Gun Club on 87 th Street and the Platte River (just adjacent to Hawaiian Village). Shooting will start at 4 p.m. each Sunday and will run until all shooters have completed their sessions. Registration is September 12 th at 4 p.m. Please visit www.plvtrap.org for additional information or speak with Mr. Campbell in room A07.
Saturday Classes for Drivers Ed
There will be a Saturday Only class at PLHS that starts September 11 th. If you do not have a study hall but want to take driver’s education this is an option for you. See Mrs. Morrow in Career Ed for information and a registration form.
Leo Club
Leo Club membership applications are available in Ms. Boswell’s room F06 or Mrs. Thornton’s room E03. The first meeting will be in the library on Tuesday, September 14 th at 7:30 and 3:30.
