Debate

Coach: Ann Marie Thornton
Anna Combs

Debate is both co- and extra-curricular. Those students interested in debate should enroll in Debate I-IV, a two-semester, two-credit course. Debate DOES fulfill an elective requirement for English credit at PLSHS, but it is necessary to check colleges and universities to assess admission requirements.

The options available for debate include policy debate, Lincoln-Douglas debate, Ted Turner debate, and Student Congress simulation. These are formatted in affirmative and negative cases around which students create logical and persuasive arguments in an organized speaking environment.

The debate season starts on November 18th at the Millard South Squashfest. Anyone interested see Mrs. Thornton in room 2236. All students participating need to turn in $20 activity fee before competition.

Here are the scheduled tournaments for Papillion South Debate. Tournaments are held on Saturdays and run from roughly 8am to 6pm.
