Girls' Soccer

Melissa Ingwerson, Varsity Coach

Coach Ingwerson is currently a high school Honors Anatomy and Physiology teacher at Papillion-La Vista South High School. She was the girls varsity assistant coach for the 2007 season, and prior to that she was the girls head JV coach for the first three years that Papillion-La Vista South High School was open. Before coming to Papillion-La Vista South, she worked at Papillion-La Vista High School and was an assistant soccer coach to the girls program for two seasons. Coach Ingwerson was the assistant soccer coach for the Lady Vikings of Dana College during the 2004-2005 season. She has coached an Arsenal U-9 girls team to first place in their division, trained a u-14 girls State Championship team, and currently coaches a U-17 Arsenal Premiere girls team. Arsenal also utilizes her as a trainer and camp clinician. Coach Ingwerson attended Millard South High School from 1993-1997 and during this time played on four district championship teams. She went on to play for Northwest Missouri State University where she led the Bearcats in scoring her freshman and sophomore years. She ended her senior year with her team placed second in the MIAA conference.


Stephanie Kruse, Varsity Assistant

Coach Kruse is a business teacher at Papillion South. She teaches Marketing and is head of the DECA program. Forward Stephanie Kruse became one of the first UNO All-Americans – 1st Team. As a senior, Kruse let the Mavs with 53 points (24 goals, 5 assists) and nine game-winners, ending her four years with 112 points becoming NCC player of the year. Kruse earned her most prized award when she was named the only NCAA Division II player on the NSCAA College Scholar All-American 1st Team in 2002. Kruse was an instrumental part of the Mavericks’ road to the NCAA championship game in 2002. Going into UNO’s first NCAA tournament appearance, Kruse needed six points to tie the team’s career points record of 110. She scored four goals in the four tournament games for eight points, giving her 112 and the record. The Mavs advanced all the way to the final, but fell short 2-1 to Christian Brothers for a second place finish. Kruse scored the Maverick goal in the title game. Kruse went on to play for the USL W-League Mile High Mustangs which is currently called the Mile High Edge for one summer in Colorado. She has had other coaching jobs at UNO, Marian and Westside.


Megan Collins, JV Coach

Coach Collins is in her third year teaching and coaching at Papillion-La Vista South High School. She teaches Honors Anatomy and Physiology and Advanced Placement Biology for 11th and 12th graders. She has coached at many levels, including youth and high school ages. Coach Collins is the Head JV coach as well as a trainer for the Varsity level. She has played soccer for 24 years. She led her high school team, Omaha North into successful seasons as well as qualifying for Academic All-State honors her final two years. She then moved on to play and run the intercollegiate club soccer team at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Coach Collins loves the game of soccer and is still actively playing on three teams a week. She is also an assistant coach fro the Golf program at PLSHS.



Malinda McDonald, JV Assistant

Coach Malinda McDonald joined the Girls Titan soccer staff after coaching last year for the Boys J.V. soccer team here at South. This is her second year teaching English at South. She has been playing soccer for 15 years, and started varsity for four years at Grand Island Sr. High. She went on to college at the University of NE. at Omaha where she continued to play club ball and 3vs.3 soccer. Coach McDonald started coaching 12-16 year old girls at Camp Illahee in Brevard, N.C. over the summer months during her college years. McDonald loves the sport and continues to play.
