Stephanie Kruse, Varsity Assistant
Coach
Kruse is a business teacher at Papillion South. She teaches Marketing
and is head of the DECA program. Forward Stephanie Kruse became one of
the first UNO All-Americans – 1st Team. As a senior, Kruse let the
Mavs with 53 points (24 goals, 5 assists) and nine game-winners, ending
her four years with 112 points becoming NCC player of the year. Kruse
earned her most prized award when she was named the only NCAA Division
II player on the NSCAA College Scholar All-American 1st Team in 2002.
Kruse was an instrumental part of the Mavericks’ road to the NCAA
championship game in 2002. Going into UNO’s first NCAA tournament
appearance, Kruse needed six points to tie the team’s career points
record of 110. She scored four goals in the four tournament games for
eight points, giving her 112 and the record. The Mavs advanced all the
way to the final, but fell short 2-1 to Christian Brothers for a second
place finish. Kruse scored the Maverick goal in the title game. Kruse
went on to play for the USL W-League Mile High Mustangs which is currently
called the Mile High Edge for one summer in Colorado. She has had other
coaching jobs at UNO, Marian and Westside.
