A Nationally known organization in the world of Business and Industry. Students will be expected to enroll for membership into the State and National chapters. Skills USA is one of the largest school organizations in the Country.

A totally student driven organization which helps students show off their own skills and traits they have acquired through their own experiences. These skills that we help to further develop in our members will take them a step above and beyond their potential competitors in the world of Business and Industry. Students who have developed an interest in a certain career field are given the opportunity to experience that field firsthand through training programs, job shadowing and career connections through actual employers. Every single student who is part of the Papillion LaVista South student body would be a welcome member of this organization.

The goal that drives our chapter is the opportunity to take the skills that they would like to showcase to the State Competition. The Students will be entered into a complicated contest which will test their skills to the fullest extent. Each contest is structured to imitate a real world scenario or task that an employee in his or her field may encounter. The judges of these competitions are people who have been involved in that career field and may also be employers looking for that one student who may be able to start right away.

The entire organization provides a very positive experience for ALL students boys and girls alike. The state competition is comprised of over 70 contests and awards for first through third place for each. Many companies sponsor those contests and so students are also awarded with very valuable tools and equipment that may be used in their trade.

If a student places first in their respective event, they will qualify for the Skills USA National competition. One of the biggest of its kind, the students will spend a week in Kansas City with other students from across the country, talking to employers, competing, and talking to vendors and potential employers. The organization and its sponsors gives away thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes to those who compete.

Being part of this organization is a growth experience that is unmatched by any other organization offered in schools today.
