Titan Marching Band

The Titan Marching Band and Guard has 240 members, making it the largest activity at Papillion-LaVista South High School, and the largest high school marching band in the state. Only three years in exisitance, the Titan Band has already achieved many outstanding accomplishments and is well know throughout the region.

Honors for the Titan Band and Guard include the following:

“Second Place Overall” - Lincoln High Marching Invitational – 2005
“Best Field Show Award” - Harvest of Harmony Competition – 2005
“Second Place - Class AA” - Harvest of Harmony Parade Competition - 2005
“First Place” - Omaha St. Patrick’s Day Parade – 2005
“First Place – Class A” - Star City Parade - 2004
“Third Place Overall” - Lincoln High Marching Invitational – 2004
“Best Field Show Award” - Harvest of Harmony Competition – 2004
“Second Place - Class AA” - Harvest of Harmony Parade Competition - 2004
“First Place – Class A” - Star City Parade - 2003
“Best Auxilary” - Lincoln High Marching Invitational – 2003
“People’s Choice Award” - Festival of Bands Parade Competition – 2003

In addition, the band has received a superior rating in all twelve marching competitions
in which they’ve participated, including three straight superiors at the NSBA State Marching Band Contest.

Titan Concert Band

After marching season, the Titan Band stays as one large concert band until after the December winter concert. At that time, the band splits into two bands, a freshman/sophomore Concert Band, and a junior/senior Symphonic Band. Each band performs two concerts in the Spring. The Concert Band participates in the non-rated
Bellevue Concert Band Festival, and the Symphonic Band competes at District Music Contest, where they received a superior rating in 2005. There are honor band and solo and small ensemble competitions available for members of both groups, and the Titan Band has been well represented in both venues the past three years.

Titan Jazz Band

Jazz Band rehearsal begins at the end of marching season. The Titan Band program supports two jazz bands, the “Blue Notes” and the “Silver Tones”. Both groups meet before school. Last year the “Blue Notes” finished 2nd at the Millard South Jazz Festival; This year the bands will participate in several contests and present a concert in the spring.
