The "Marching Titans"
The beginning of the year starts in June for the Titan Marching Band, with the Papillion Days and Ralston Independence Day parades and Band Camp. In the fall, the Titan Marching Band performs at all home football games and several competitions. The band marches using the unique and eye-catching "Power Step" which means "knee high, ankle ahead, and toe pointed." The band puts on two main shows each year. The pre-game show consists of the circle run-on drill, and a traditional/military style drill with patriotic music and the school's fight songs. The half-time/competition show consists of themed music to a custom designed drill.
Titan Guard and Legion
Adding to the visual interest of the Titan Marching Band are the auxiliary units, the Titan Guard and Legion. The Guard is made up of all girls and does creative flag routines as well as dancing. The Legion is made up of all guys and there primary function is spinning rifles and sabres, as well as working with the guard to create eye-catching visuals during the field shows and parades.
Concert and Symphonic Bands
During the second semester, the band splits into two main ensembles: the Concert Band, which consists of Freshman and Sophomores, and the Symphonic Band, consisting of Juniors and Seniors. Both bands put on several concerts and perform at various competitions.
Jazz Bands
PLSHS has two Jazz Bands, the Silver Tones and the Blue Notes. All students involved in either Concert Band or Symphonic Band may audition for the Jazz bands. The jazz bands perform a large variety of Jazz music and can be seen at various concerts and competitions during the Spring.
"Forte"
Forte is the Titan Band program's "Indoor Marching Experience" similar to the Broadway show Blast. The full legnth show is performed onstage in the Titan Theatre. The show has a new theme each year and features several select ensembles of brass, woodwinds, percussion, and auxiliary. The program is enhanced using vocals, choreography, and special effects. Several performances are put on each year. Check the Titan Band schedule for specific dates and times. Tickets are sold at the door.
Pep Bands
The Titan Concert and Symphonic bands split into two pep bands. The pep bands play at all home basketball games and at some post-season volleyball and basketball games.
Alumni Band
All Titan Band and auxiliary alumni are invited to come back and be featured at the annual homecomming football game. The alumni band plays a brief pre-game show and also is invited to sit with the band in the stadium and play along during the game.
