Oscar makes Papillion his home

Millions of people from around the world tuned in to watch the 82nd Academy Awards on March 7. Many of the viewers were waiting to see who would receive the Oscar for Best Film, Best Actor/Actress in a Leading Role and Best Director. But those watching in Papillion were waiting in anticipation to see if Papillion resident Mauro Fiore would win the Oscar for his cinematography work in the best selling movie of all time, “Avatar.” With the movie released on DVD April 22, the “Avatar” phenomenon in Papillion continued.

Play Pro brings Broadway to South

Having to mix different ingredients to make a great meal is what top chefs have to do. PL South’s Play Production class applied this philosophy to drama when it put together a play from different songs and scenes from Broadway productions for this year’s Play Pro show, “Give My Regards to Broadway.”

Male cheerleader flips into school cheer history

It’s not every day that one sees a boy in a cheerleading uniform leading the crowd in chants at the high school football game. But for PL South, seeing a male cheerleader will soon become part of the high school experience. Sophomore Trevor Wolfe has tumbled his way into school history as the first male cheerleader, bringing a new dimension to the cheer program.

Living with autism: Student faces daily challenges

Imagine juggling a schedule jam packed with Student Council meetings, NJROTC rifle team practices and competitions, various volunteering activities and afternoons filled with Science Club, all while still managing to be successful in school by making the honor roll each semester. Now imagine doing all this and more with autism. It would be a tough feat for anybody, but senior Bruce Peoples was diagnosed with autism before kindergarten and has handled it on a daily basis ever since.

Always Ally: Years later, death has lasting affect

It was my freshman year of high school. Innocence still invaded every step I took through the crowded halls when the month of April came around. My older sister and her friends were still around to protect me from “evil” things. No one could protect me from the shock and sadness that filled April 11, 2007.
